Your Son's cooker sounds identical to the one my Son bought. He loves to cook and has so many neat gadgets for the kitchen. He loves to roam kitchen stores and if he doesn't have it he brings it home. He has a pan for frying shrimp. Puts the raw shrimp in one side of it and flower or corn meal in the other side, flips it over and the shrimp are coated and ready to be put in the frying pan. No dirty hands at all. Our poor ancestors would probably flip in their graves to see all the things that are available to us for cooking purposes. It makes me laugh when I think about the caveman and what he would think....probably run and hide behind something thinking the things we use were weapons.

As to the oil, i believe he uses peanut oil and buys it at Sam's.

Getting older the memory thing is sometimes disturbing to me as I was always the one with an elephant brain and all my friends would call for answers to their questions of birthdays, wedding dates, grandchildren's birthdays or even what kind of perfume someone wore. My brain's computer goes on the blink more than I like it to at times and wish I had a System Restore for it. My husband hates anything computerized and computer talk is a foreign language to him.
