And our involvement in Vietnam would have been much, much different.

Yep, yet another reason, one of thousands, to be glad Kennedy beat Nixon.

As for worst president of the 20th century, GWB has cleaned the lists as the worst president ever. Can't think of one. For some time I thought he would simply rank as the worst since Hoover. But he's well outdone Hoover by now.

Say what you want about Nixon. But if he had been President instead-as he should have been, we would not have had the "Bay of pigs." There would have been no "Cuban missile crisis." Cuba would have been been free of that bearded bastard for the last 50 years. And our involvement in Vietnam would have been much, much different.

Bill, I was still in grade school at the time of the Nixon/Kennedy debates but even then it seemed to me that Nixon had won, except for the sweat on his upper lip of course. The press wasn't much better then than it is now....Remember Kruschev pounding his shoe on the podium at the UN, "we will bury you"? Press made big deal of it, scared the hell out of me, but like katrina, the truth came out later. Turns out NK was talking about burying the US economically (nice dream), but you can guess which impressions stuck.
