Ford Motor Co. plans to offer interest-free loans on its 2005 model year sport-utility vehicles, the company said Wednesday.Sales of Ford's locally built Ford Explorer SUVs and other SUV models dropped by more than 50 percent in September as gasoline prices rose.The offer of an interest-free loan for six years applies to the Ford Expedition, Ford Explorer, Lincoln Aviator and Mercury Mountaineer, also built at the company's Hazelwood plant, as well as the Ford F-150 pickup and some car models. The deal runs through Jan. 3, 2006.The deal runs through Jan. 3, 2006.In September, Ford sold 12,879 Ford Explorer SUVs, down 57.7 percent from 30,448 in September 2004. It sold 1,771 Mercury Mountaineers, down 54 percent from 3,846 in the same month last year.
