I don't think that my opinions would be classified as conservative. As I said I am certainly left of the center mark. But on welfare, people should not be able to get on the dole and stay on the dole. It shoudl be temporary assistance. They should work or go to school and strive to get back on their feet. If not, cut them off. On property rights I think that in some cases environmentalist have gone to far. Don't get me started on the permitting process to build a shed on your own land. I think their is a middle road that will serve everyone better than what you find on either extreme. Dems are slammed for thinking that you can just throw more money at a problem. I'd slam everyone for not actually taking the time think through a problem and craft a truly brilliant piece of legislation. Were the framers of the constitution so much smarter than we are today? When was the last time someone came up with an idea that, dspite problems, works as well as the constitution has for all these years? I think politicians have gotten fat and lazy, it's almost like they are living on the dole, to really tackle anything the right way. jb

That is why you are considered to be honest. The same cannot be said of Junior. It is similar to the difference between Rush and other right of center editorialists compared to the left wing media. Rush admits to expressing his opinion, the formerly MSM pretends they are just (mis)representing the "news".

Here is a little fair and balanced for you. Nagin and Blanco are idiots. How can you be the mayor of a city that is below sea level, regularly targeted by hurricanes, surrounded by levies designed for a cat 3 and not be prepared for the worst case scenario. It is unconscionable and he should lose his job. While I am afraid that Judge Roberts is going to over turn Roe Vs Wade I am still in favor of his being sworn onto the supreme court. I listened to several hours of testimony and he is the most lucid, articulate man of law that I have ever heard. No papers in front of him to refer to, no aids whispering in his ear. Simply recalling case details off the top of his head and keeping his mind focused on the small bit of law that the case turned on and not getting bogged down in any of the senators attempts to imply bias or misconstrue the cases meaning. He will be a fine justice. jb
