What people can afford, of course. Just yesterday, I heard about a "study" that says a single-income family of four living in California needs to make at least $51K/year to survive.

Of course, how much of that is going toward rent or mortgage? Maybe we should also have price controls on the real-estate market. It won't do a thing to correct the supply-n-demand imbalance, but hey, to liberals it's all good as long as your intentions are just.

Dude, gas prices affect nearly everything else in our economy... have you seen the new consumer debt numbers?
