Pictures of the individual can't be on the application either, can they? I know they can't be on scholarship applications....

I am on an undergraduate admissions body admitting 1500 students per year to higher level study within our university and have never observed that information on any form that admission reviewers see.

Not surprising. It would be surprising if it were on the form.

I've done this in both a graduate level program and an undergraduate institution. Both places it was clear decisions were made beyond the admissions committees and that the folk "beyond our pay grade" knew what was happening. They made public defenses of the process.
