Gill, from Central Illinois to fight the Mexicans after the Alamo. They managed to sneak into Santa Anna's camp and steal two chickens and his wooden leg which is now in Atlanta, Illinois. After the war Presidents Polk and Taylor deeded two half sections or land to Sgt. Gill to transfer to my ancestor. A few years ago I read a book review that said Sgt. Gill had funded the platoon and wrote the authors. I had the original documents and still own the land. They wanted me to send the documents that would prove them wrong to Arizona. Fat chance of that.
