"the more I read about the charges against DeLay, the less I'm impressed. Funneling money from 527s?"

Yep. It is illegal in Texas. And for good reason. Corporations have way too much influence over Texas politics and the justice system as it is, letting them contribute to campaigns would make it worse. So it might not impress you that DeLay violated Texas law, it isn't your place to be impressed or not.

Wow Ted, the more I read about the charges against DeLay, the less I'm impressed. Funneling money from 527s? Maybe DeLay and his cronies should investigate MoveOn.org and find out where the Dems are getting all of their cash.

Interesting that that's your conclusion. Siphoning money from 527s is against the law in TX. You don't think people should respect the laws of their state?

I think it goes like this:

Delay's PAC gives the national Repugnicans 190k of Texas corporate contributions that are illegal in Texas for local candidates.

Delay gives the national Repugnicans a list that specifies 190k of Repugnican national party contributions to local Texas candidates.

..and so the money was "laundered". Delay's lawyer claims it's not the "same" 190k!

Evidently only 17 States have the laws that DeLay is charged with not obeying.

What will be interesting to see is exactly how many and WHO are the others in other States do exactly what DeLay is charged with....

And I'm sure it will come out as well.
