About 150,000 tonnes of gold is above ground and SA is no longer the dominant gold producer it once was, whereas SA is absolutely vital for platinum supply, which is hand to mouth in comparison. Now I just need to find the best platinum/palladium investment -- don't own anything in that category right now. If someone were drilling the Fiskenaesset anorthosite complex in Greenland I might invest in such a company -- the geology sounds quite similar to platinum deposits in SA (large anorthosite intrusion, elevated nickel levels, and lots of choromitite/chromite) and I don't think that anyone has drilled to the bottom of the anorthosite to investigate platinum economics, just chromite economics at upper levels.
