Sixth person dies after carbon monoxide poisoning at apartment
Local Headlines

BEAUMONT, Texas The death toll from a family's use of a generator inside their Beaumont apartment after Hurricane Rita has risen to six.
That's after a nine-year-old boy died in a Houston hospital.

Emery Reese Junior was one of two people found unconscious inside the Beaumont apartment early last week. The Harris County medical examiner's office says he died Wednesday at Memorial Hermann Children's Hospital in Houston.

His 29-year-old mother, Irene Bean, is listed in good condition.

Three of her other children -- 12-year-old Crystal Farr, nine-year-old DeMarcus Bean and seven-year-old Alia Bean -- died in the apartment last week. So did the mother's 47-year-old boyfriend, Billy Coleman, and her 25-year-old sister, Diane Bean.

Coleman's 12-year-old daughter, Kenya Coleman, also was in the apartment -- but she was treated at the Houston hospital and released.
