He is living proof that the rat has been grossly maligned. Years back they had the opportunity--a distinguished senator retired and became a "spin consultant" and offered his services to the WWRC (World Wide Rat Community). But he was turned down, as lacking the proper moral fiber. The PR image has continued to decline since that time. Take, for example, the oft-used simile "like rats deserting a sinking ship". The image that you get is that there is something wrong with the RATS, whereas there is something wrong, dreadfully wrong, with THE SHIP--and probably with the CAPTAIN of the ship. This is easily understood when the simile is applied to the Bush Administration. Anyone who has had a pet rat knows what a fine creature a rat is. City rats, and particularly ghetto rats have a much harder life and it is reflected in their behavior. And they have NO upward career path--no chance as a Rap artist, no possibility for fame in the NRA. They are, as they say, cornered. And a cornered rat will fight--they are spunky and have heart. WEASELS on the other hand, make bad sailors and if they found themselves on a sinking ship would desert it also, but not before biting and despatching anything smaller in size and maybe even drinking its blood. Nastier by an order of magnitude! I therefore suggest that on this thread we refer to despicable creatures as WEASELS, not rats, because the behavior of our nasty politicians resembles that of a weasel much more than a rat. However the WWWC would take serious objection (even legal action) if Tom DeLay, for example, were described as a weasel. The safest legal harbor for him is "hyena". I hope this will clarify the proper use of the word "rat" on this thread, but others are invited to comment before we issue this as Amendment 887,286 of the Constitution.
