Sure, we are a democracy, so the buck stops with the voter, even more so when we reelect an individual. However, I don't think Dems are going to score major election victors in 2006. I think they might pick up some, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Reps still hold all the power in Washington.

The problem for Dems is they have not clearly articulated a strategy for dealing with the ME, and the strategies I think are most likely to succeed long term are to take a more fair and balanced approach to Arab-Israeli issues. This will annoy the Jewish dem vote, and is seen by most Americans as being "soft on terror", hence we get stuck in the same endless loop Bush is in. I suspect that the American political landscape will stay right of center until the chickens come home to roost wrt to the various issues Bush has handled poorly. Only then will the average voter reexamine their thought process. Looking deeply in the mirror is seldom an enjoyable process.
