Anyone getting XM Radio? Bob Dylan to Host His Own Radio Show Wednesday Dec 14, 2005 8:00am EST By Stephen M. Silverman CREDIT: AP PHOTO / THE BUFFALO NEWS, MARK MULVILLE The normally reclusive Bob Dylan has made a stunning announcement: The music legend is turning DJ and will host a weekly radio music show on XM Satellite Radio beginning in March. The hour-long show will be a mix of music hand-selected by Dylan as well as commentary and interviews by him, according to XM, which claims more than 5 million subscribers and broadcasts live daily from studios in Washington, New York City and Nashville, Tenn. Dylan's show will be on XM's deep album rock channel Deep Tracks – XM channel 40. (Howard Stern is set to launch his new show on XM's chief competitor, Sirius Satellite Radio.) "Songs and music have always inspired me," Dylan, 64, said in a statement. "A lot of my own songs have been played on the radio, but this is the first time I've ever been on the other side of the mic. It'll be as exciting for me as it is for XM." XM's chief creative officer Lee Abrams tells The New York Times that he has been wooing Dylan for 18 months, and sees the show as connecting the artist to his fans. "We want to make it as comfortable for him as possible," says Abrams. The show will take place in "a combination of home and hotel rooms and buses. He'll really be in his element." people.aol.com
