I am familiar with both. The refrigerator companies are using filtration to lock consumers in the replacement filter market. When they sell a refrigerator they make about $50 on each sale but with the filters they make as much in a year and the annuity goes on forever. The PUR filter is good but with such a small device it is hard to get alot of performance out of it. The way I set up my house it that I have a very good filtration system under my sink with a line going through the sink to a separate spout that dispenses purified water and another line going to my refrigerator that supplies purified water for my icemaker. So, my water filtration needs are being met by one system. If anyone needs any advice on water filtration just email me. I have been in the business for over 15 years. The company I work with has business relationships will all the major OEM filter suppliers.
