Yep, I think this argument is a valid one even though it sounds odd. Iraq would be better off with a defeat of the Constitution which could take more wind out of the sails of the insurgency. After all, if minority rights actually have significant meaning in Iraqi politics, then what's to keep the insurgents from going the political route?

Since the Shiites are determined to cement in their power, even going so far as changing the rules this late in the game, I'd be a wary Sunni as well. Chalabi is still on the de-Baathification game and Iraq has become friendly with its previously mortal enemy, Iran...what's a Sunni to do?

It's a mess. In comparison, New Orleans looks positively dandy even as Republicans try and turn the area a paler shade of Republican.
