Miers is probably not a frothing-at-the-mouth conservative, but quite moderate. Of course, Reid could be making a mistake too and maybe she is not so moderate after all. But the wingnuts wanted someone who would pump their fists and say at the oath-taking ceremony that they would overturn Rove v Wade. They didn't get that.

But the most important thing is, if it comes to choosing between appeasing wingnuts whose votes he no longer needs, and saving his own butt, guess what would Dumbya do? Exactly what he did when it came to choosing between fighting the evil Communists in Vietnam and saving his own butt! :-)

First semi bi-partisan thing Bush has done in about 4.5 years.
The last time he did anything democrats went along with it was No Child Left Behind, his only claim to fame in terms of helping people, though of course Delay underfunded it so as to make it semi useless.

The only thing I know about Miers is that the far right doesn't like her. That's a good sign.

An alternative explanation is that Reid said that just to drive you guys nuts.

So, Limbot is against Miers' nomination. How about Heil Hannity, The Whiner, O'Lechereilly et al?
