Last time I was in Manhattan (where I am
typically only a pedestrian or rider in
public conveyances such as cabs),
I swear that one of the many taxicabs that
nearly killed me (in a crosswalk as I crossed
with the light and while
the cross traffic had a most decided RED light in its direction of travel),
actually had painted
black sticks on the driver's door with
a slash across every five
sticks in order to denote the number of targets hit.

Well, I might be slightly exaggerating, but
that was the view from the wrong side of the crosshairs,
as it were :-)

I could never drive over there, not to mention in Manhattan

i must say i am in southern new jersey, closer to delaware than new york.

it is quite rual where i need to drive, but just venture out on to !-95 or !-295 and it changes, dramatically.

This must give the term "extended family" new meaning!

Sheesh...that's an understatement

<grin>
