quick review on ivy league/private top colleges vs state colleges shows on cnbc , a very small cable outfit. 12 out 15 reporters or anchors ,,, ivy league educations. Yale, two harvard, brown, un of penn, usc, lake forest, notra dame, Wellesley. vs one un of wis, one mich state, one un of missouri. several mba Columbia.

I expect you would find the same thing on Fox etc. These kids are from wealthy homes, continue to follow parents who most likely went to the same college, and into a field where the parents or friends have some connections.

I doubt the same opportunities are open to state colleges. First of all cnbc , fox are not interviewing at those colleges.

Of course there are exceptions.

GETTING IN
by MALCOLM GLADWELL

Nice piece. Gladwell, in my opinion, always manages to make matters a bit more complicated than necessary. And The New Yorker style of memory association complicates the complication.

But much to be learned. Karabel does good work. Has a very good reputation in the field.
