11-Oct-05 06:09 ET In Play Microsoft, RealNetworks near settlement - WSJ (RNWK) 5.74 : According to the WSJ, Microsoft (MSFT) and RealNetworks may be close to burying the hatchet. According to people familiar with the matter, the two co's are nearing a settlement of RealNetworks' long-running antitrust lawsuit against Microsoft in a deal valued at about $750m. Under terms of the settlement Microsoft would provide a combination of cash and promotions for RealNetworks music and game services through Microsoft's online services and software, and the two co's would collaborate on technology initiatives in the future. The two co's were working on plans for a joint announcement of a possible deal, which could come as early as today.
