For example, the anecdote you gave me sounds like an instance of old-generation racism which led to current generation mistrust. I don't know the details, but to me it's safe to call that racism. So how much of that still exists in our society? Plenty. What do we do about it? One way to deal with it is to think win-win. There is no question that being positive helps. But addition, we can't fall for the fables that are spun to us about why things are the way they are. The welfare story is classic. How is paying starvation wages making people dependent on welfare? If only it were that simple......... ted
