Because for some of these folks, the insurgency won't be over until they've achieved an Islamic state, or collected their 72 virgins.. Overall, my theory is that we're in a cycle of militancy and radicalism that will last for at least the next 10-20 years... (yes.. you read that correctly).. But I think we'll see more stability in Iraq within the next couple of years to the extent that they can maintain some semblance of internal security... Overall, what's driving the recent turmoil in the Mid-East is that's it's going through the same kind of Baby Boom that the US went through in the 60s.. The only difference is that, instead of marxist and anarchist ideologies warping youthful minds, we have religious fanaticism and intolerance at the center of this radical need for "change" and finding spiritual truth.. Young impressionable minds, especially aimless and unenfranchised ones, are a valuable human commodity for people with aspirations for obtaining power. It's a truly volatile mixture, youthful inexperience, and radical religious ideals.. And my guess is we're going to see FAR WORSE occur before its all said and done.. (names suicide chemical and biological attacks).. So fasten your seat belts folks.. And try and understand the fanatical nature of the enemy we're fighting. (and it's isn't Islam.. It's Qutbism:freerepublic.com lapismagazine.org members.cox.net thewahhabimyth.com pwhce.org pwhce.org This should keep you busy reading for awhile... ;0) Btw, we're seeing more and more open source comments about the threat to Syria that Zarqawis people are posing to Bashir Assad's government. Kind of funny since we're constantly hearing about Syrian intel folks assisting the Iraqis Mujs with training and weapons.. We may see another Hama take place.. (search for Hama and Syria).. Interesting story.. Hawk
