Relatively few attacks there relative to other parts of the country.. That's not to say that pressure can be decreased.. There are still some players up there that need to bagged.. These cells depend upon a large degree of charismatic leadership. Lose that leader and they tend to lose their focus and become little more than gangsters (but still dangerous gangsters). As for the rest of the region, including Afghanistan, we're going to have ups and downs, progress and setbacks. We're dealing with some extremely powerful interests here hoping to use religion to seize economic and social power and prestige. One of the areas that I opine we're EXTREMELY out of focus on is the recruitment apparatus that preys upon and lures in, brain-washes, motivates, and facilitates young people becoming involved in the Jihadist movement. THIS is where the war must be truly won. And it's going to require a multi-tiered approach. The initial focus must be "leadership decapitation".. Call it assassination, "sanctioning".. whatever you want.. But without the self-aggrandizing leadership who seek to manipulate and expend young human lives so that they can control and manipulate people.. I can guarantee you that your average Islamo-Fascist would not hesitate to "decapitate" our leadership, were they given the opportunity. So why should we permit them to live comfortably in the knowledge that they are "untouchable". The second focus.. which is far more complex, is economic, educational, social, and political.. Without this, the foundational causes of militancy and intolerance (of any type) will not be defeated. Hawk
