I agree with you about the point on prolonging the war just for the bragging points of "not on our watch" kind of claims. Heck, after the next admin pulls out, the Bushies can go on forever claiming that the insurgents had been in their last throws and if only the "right" leadership had been in place ME would have been very different and the war would have been won. It's one thing for conservatives to brag about their fiscal restraint while they spend like there is no tomorrow. It's another thing to manage a war for the purpose of spinning a legacy. To have thousands of people die and let the Iraqis live in a hell hole so that 10 years from now they can claim we were winning at the time....I have trouble coming up with the right set of words to express how repugnant that is? Re: Your link. I agree with you. Part of what Hawk [and the Administration] do is think that disabling a terrorist network acomplishes anything beyond today. They don't appear to be lacking recruits for the war against Satan. It's Darwinian. The best terrorists survive, regroup and get promoted in the temporary vacuums of power. It's analagous to the drug business. Take out a drug dealer and there's someone else who fills the vacuum. Take out a network of drug dealers and a new network fills the territory left in the vacuum. With the new management learning from the mistakes of former management. Efficient. There's no election, appointments or confirmations. If you can kill better than your predecessor and survive better than your predecessor you get the job. jttmab
