OSX sell-off and Denial of Demand Destruction:

If we take the sell-off of last 3 days as our data point, the street can live in denial up to 4 weeks. Being ahead of this denial with just one week indeed became very profitable.

Some would feel much better tonight if they would have locked the profits from the Katrina/Rita provided spike and would have helped the victims with a token of those profits.

Demand Destruction:

The following is from the last 5 weekly petroleum data reports:

Week Ending September 9, 2005:
Over the last four weeks, motor gasoline demand has averaged 1.1 percent below the same period last year, "possibly reflecting the inability of some stations to receive supplies over the last two weeks",. Distillate fuel demand has averaged 1.4 percent above the same period last year.

Week Ending September 16, 2005:
Over the last four weeks, motor gasoline demand has averaged 2.1 percent below the same period last year. Distillate fuel demand has averaged 0.7 percent below the same period last year.

Week Ending September 23, 2005:
Over the last four weeks, motor gasoline demand has averaged 2.8 percent below the same period last year. Distillate fuel demand has averaged 3.1 percent below the same period last year.

Week Ending September 30, 2005:
Over the last four weeks, motor gasoline demand has averaged 2.6 percent below the same period last year. Distillate fuel demand has averaged 3.8 percent below the same period last year. Kerosene-type jet fuel demand is down 0.6 percent over the last four weeks compared to the same four-week period last year.

Week Ending October 7, 2005:
Over the last four weeks, motor gasoline demand has averaged 2.4 percent below the same period last year. Distillate fuel demand has averaged 4.0 percent below the same period last year. Kerosene-type jet fuel demand is down 4.4 percent over the last four weeks compared to the same four-week period last year.
