Saddam was not interested in attacking the US, he was interested in holding onto his own power. We can now see he was a bragging liar, boasting to his people that he would attack Americans and Israel, but chickening out and planning a total retreat.

Actually Saddam's strategy, if it is a strategy, has worked well. Let us come into Iraq, then chip away at us and drive us nuts. Like a reverse Trojan Horse.

Bush keeps telling us that the terrorists in Iraq are hindering democracy in Iraq. Well wouldn't you know but his own Iraqi allies are subverting democracy by changing the rules for adoption of the constitution. Bush needs to realize all aspects of the challenges he faces in his endeavor to spread democracy in Iraq. It is not the terrorist but the very culture of the Iraqis where denying the rights of others takes precedence.
