Okay, so you have got some insight into Mensa people and what you say makes sense, so I'll go with that. Being proud of IQ is like being proud of being tall and "black pride". It's not really something one has achieved oneself. < The few who were after MENSA or specially were proud of their IQ had attitude problems and some would qualify as socially handicapped.>

It's a bit like being beautiful. It gets one rewards and recognition but just is.

I can see there's good reason to have a Mensa though, like any association of interests, such as in defence of bright children who get left out at school, while the middle of the road children have the teacher aim the lessons at the greatest goood for the greatest number, or worse, lowest common denominator.

There's a NAACP and that's just for being melanin-rich. There are Jewish associations just for being Jewish. There are associations for everything. I'm not surprised that Mensa people want a club too, just for being brainy.

PS: The only person I've seen wearing a jester's hat was on the snow slopes at Whakapapa, Mount Ruapehu. But he's a Kiwi, so obviously not you. That's his regular head-gear.
