I posted recently about a company called PowerMed. (not public). But they are based in Oxford and claimed to have developed a vaccine that is comparable to current vaccines. The bonus is it doesn't require a live virus and can me massed produced. They estimate 150mln doses in 3months. On top of that, this vaccine lasts for years and doesn't require refrigeration. They are using a DNA based vaccine that works by spraying gold particles coated with the avian flu genes directly into a person's skin using high pressure helium. Nutty huh? fwiw, the ceo also predicts it will make the mutation to be spread from person to person. Of course he also has a product to sell.. btw, SARS hasn't been talked about much lately but did anyone else see that the host was determined and that it was bats in China?
