I went to a Mon afternoon workshop held by one of the Coffin brothers. He said they thought that copper and the base metals were still on the rise. He said they were suprised at the sector's continued strength, but couldn't deny it was there.

He also talked about how out of touch Wall St analysts were and referred especially to their prognastications regarding copper. Said every few months some guy on Wall st referred to actual or impending over supply, but then he, Eric (think it was Eric) would call a smelter guy he knew and the smelter guy said "where is all this copper we're supposed to have so much of-I literally can't find it."

Was impressed by Coffin guys. Seemed very unaffected by hype or fantasy, nose to grindstone of material and market reality type folks.

That said, I'm still an agnostic about China's short and medium term role as consumer of metals and energy. If the US consumer stops buying, won't they stop exporting? And then what happens?
