LOL... As we put it in French, Washington soutient l'entrée de la Turquie en Europe comme la corde soutient le pendu! --Washington supports turkey's EU bid like the rope supports the hanged man....

Re: “A Turkey anchored in Europe will be an even more reliable partner for the transatlantic family...

What transatlantic family?!? The family that was torn apart between "Old Europe" and "New Europe"? Does the US want Turkey to heed Turkish public opinion and lean more heavily on Israel? Do you want Turkey to buy more Airbus aircraft and less Boeings? Do you want Turkey to develop its military technologies (ships, missiles, satellites,...) with France and Germany instead of the US and Israel? More importantly, Turkey's EU membership will put to rest the Islamic bugbear and the US's attempt to replace the Red Menace with the Green Peril --at least in Europe....

You said that the US and Israel are trying to keep Turkey isolated. I showed you that that's not true at least where the US is concerned. I am not defending Bush's motivation.....just stating what his position is.

However, your anti Americanism led you to believe something else. In other words, I am pointing out your bias.
