too many people not interested in politics. they could care less who is running or in power. look at voter turnout.

also a lot has to do with their environment. the average person grows up in the same neighborhood or general area he/she is most likely to vote as the population of the area voted. for example. boston liberal base. large cities, like philly, chicago, nyc, detroit, when people go to vote the ward captain tells them who to vote for. or union rep tells its members who to vote for. these people have no interest in politics and spend very little time in reviewing those running.
