re: I don't know when the new party starts and the old party stops but according to the numbers, the GOP wasn't fiscally responsible under Reagan's presidency and hasn't been since. That's equal to the span of a generation.

I like Ike.

"re: I would like to know who is the butthole that got the GOP party the moniker as the fiscally responsible party. I have never seen a party quiet so irresponsible when it comes to money.

That's the NEW Republican party... not the traditional one, and not what (IMHO) people identify with.

I don't know when the new party starts and the old party stops but according to the numbers, the GOP wasn't fiscally responsible under Reagan's presidency and hasn't been since. That's equal to the span of a generation."

It started with Reagan. The supply-side, Voodoo economics started then. The myth that you cut taxes and then "grow" your way out of the deficit you've just created. It's an easy lie to sell to the voters, since they get their taxes cut and "responsible" people are telling them it's good. The chimpistration has used it as a tool to rob upcoming generations for their cronies, before they even exist to complain.
Clinton had a stellar economy, with no tax cuts needed for "stimulus". Under supply side theory, it should have sucked. Clinton and Rubin along with the congressional Republicans proved that fiscal discipline stimulates the economy without the need for any tax cuts, and no one complains, since we're ALL doing so well. A lesson unlearned by the chimpistration.
