You anti-American atheists ALWAYS ignore the last words: "the free exercise thereof."

Your ACLU scumbags want the courts to erase that part completely. Their entire crusade is AGAINST "the free exercise thereof", which includes, among other things, mounting the "Ten Suggestions" in courthouses, praying in schools (Oh Almighty God, SAVE US ALL from these idiot union teachers!) and showing manger scenes in public buildings at Christmas.

You are, in short, TRANSPARENT, in this and everything else...

"Congress shall make no law respecting the establishment of religion: or the free exercise thereof"

What was there intent?

Seems to me we have a tendency to try and read between the lines rather then to just accept it at face value. Our forefathers were IMHO pretty down to earth and didnt hide behind "definitions" like what is the definition of IS? At face value it meant:
Congress shall neither establish nor not establish any religion (thus no STATE RELIGION) and the people are free to exercise or not exercise the religion of their choice in the place of their choice. I would bet you not a SINGLE ONE would agree with OUTLAWING Christmas or Nativity scenes ANYWHERE, ANYPLACE, ANYTIME. jdn

Congress shall not create a "church of England". Congress shall make no law that prohibits members of any state expressing religious sentiments.

Any power not granted the Federal government is granted to states.

Congress can not create a state religion, like the Church the England, and they cannot create a law that outlaws the worship of one.

Seems pretty straight forward to me. It is liberals that try to read between the lines so it can fit their agenda.
