Bird Flu like any virus replicates sloppily. Some of these mistakes may confer resistance to a certain drug.

Amantadine/Rimantidine/Memantine are only effective against Influenza-A. Relenza and Tamiflu are effective against both Influenza-A and Influenza-B.

Some Bird Flu isolates are also resistant to Tamiflu, but not Relenza.

The ultimate anti-viral drug is the injectable drug Interferon-alpha (sold as Intron-a and Roferon).

This increases the Non-Specific immune response to viral attack, against which the virus has no defense.
