True, there is a correlation. But correlation isn't causality. It is almost certain that the social disfunction and the degree of religious belief have the same root cause. People under stress tend to look for solace, which religion provides. But they also are more likely to engage in the behaviours described.

yeah, vacation bible school, the Girl Scouts, the Boy Scouts, prayer, ten commandments in a courthouse, one nation under God are bad.

We need more "Heather has Two Mommies" and Hollywood setting the moral compass of this country...
