I don't know if it makes sense to say that a name of a country in a different language is a mispelling of the name. The English spelling of "Spain" isn't a mispelling of the Spanish word "Espan(y)a", is it?

This tendency is not unique to the British or Americans.

Of course. The only reason we are discussing this issue is because English happens to be the language for business in the world. Even so, after hundred years, I can't imagine even the Koreans care that much since they have their own way of spelling their nations name no matter how English decides to spell it.
