Sex also creates the life of every human being and often creates and sustains love, which is the most important thing. God (or whatever planned us) made sex feel wonderful for a reason. Sex is a usually good thing so long as it doesn't intentionally hurt anyone. It's usually the shame pounded in by religious puritans itself which sometimes makes sex unpleasant. Otherwise, it's hard to have bad sex unless your partner is really unpleasant. Sex is also very good for your health. It brings down stress levels and makes people feel good, alive, fulfilled, loveable, loving, relaxed, etc.
Muchn of the reason people smoke and drink too mkuch is because they're sexually frustrated. Why some people resort to violence too. Serial killers are usually hauinted by sexual guilt and/or dysfunction.

Basically, unless you're a real perv, there's nothing to be ashamed of. It's weird that in this country we're so intolerate of the natural functions of the human body. Meanwhile, we have no problem starting wars and blowing up thousands of people in the third world with smart bombs. It's all backasswards.

Sex does not kill with AIDS, a virus does. This virus can be transmitted through sex, but also other ways. This means safe sex is very important. Which means more sex ed, readily available condoms and other protections. The religious right is against sex ed and condoms and safe sex. The religious right have therefore actually contributed to higher sexually transmitted disease rates, including AIDS.

What this boils down to again is that the religious right doesn't care about safety of women or even children. They just hate and fear sex itself. They find it disgusting and shameful. Well they can speak for themselves.

There's an old saying amongst liberal Catholics about the Pope and the chaste men in the Vatican. "If you don't play the game, you can't make the rules". The same fits for prudish evangelicals.
