The infuriating thing is that the American right in its arrogance and mendacity has managed to play right into bin Laden's hands. They have pitted the Arab world against the West.........the lines have been very deliberately drawn. Now if that was their intent, then it was an intelligent move; however if their stated intent was for real and not a lie, then it was one of the most stupid moves in the last 50 years.

I have no idea as to how smart Bin laden is. My sense is that he probably has an IQ equal to George W. Bush - my crude guess is an IQ of about 120.

My sense is that he thinks in Arabic and my sense is that you would have to overcome a lot in order to think clearly in Arabic. In the same way, I would think that the Chinese would have to overcome quite a bit to be able to think logicially in Chinese.

My sense is that Bin Laden spends a lot of time thinking. He doesn't have all the administrative and social engagements to distract him from thinking things over as much as George W. Bush.

My sense is that even if George W. Bush wanted to do a lot of thinking, the demands of the WH are such that if you only work from 9 to 5 with time out for exercise and clearing shrubs (when he is in Crawford) - he probably does not have much time to think very deeply about any one subject.

My sense is (I will be kind) that Bin Laden is an Islamic dreamer - but whatever he has achieved is purely by accident.

What he has done, imo is that he has inspired about 2 or 3 thousand jihadist (I don't know what to call these people, but for now that is good enough) to willingly sacrifice their lives for some Islamic dream (not really well thought out).

So, with an army of 2 or 3 thousand Islamic dreamers with box cutters and back packs (filled with explosives)they are able to terrorize the world.

Inadvertantly, Bin Laden has created a situation where we are spending as much as we would if we were to be fighting the Russians at the height of their powers or the Chinese at their potential levels.

Imo this is the wrong way to fight these guys.

We have little to choice but to get out. The war can not be won. Iraq is turning into Yugoslavia and it will have to run its course which can take ten years or more.

You really mean that?

We should get hell out of there, close our eyes and bleeding hearts while the imported "freedom fighters" kill off anybody being against them (certainly more than 50% of the population) in the process of establishing their "Central Islamistic Commando Central" before proceeding from there?

Pretty much - but at a much smaller scale - like Hungary 1956,
where we in the Happy West ignored the calls from Imre Nagy and his people while the Red Army tanks rolled over the streets of Budapest.

I thought we were still ashamed of that and even more so now we know how Ivan murdered Nagy and the other leaders all elected by a democratic popular referendum.

If anything, one of the serious "pimples" on our Western butt.

Something like that you would vote for, right?
