It went very well but it was cold here. I wore a suit jacket and nearly froze. Met a great grandson who brought his great grandson and said he had been researching the family for thirty years and would forward that to me. Also sending me pictures his wife took of the event. There were also two photographers taking pictures and I imagine they will make tapes of the ceremony and have them for sale.

Also met a great niece of my great grandfather and she had pictures of him. He was a Headmaster of a school in Houston and it was exciting to see what he looked like. Big fella with a full beard. Her father was orphaned at ten years of age and my great grandfather took him in to live with them. She is going to send me copies of the pictures. They were taken the year before he died and one was of him and a class at his school. She said her Dad always treasured them and she had made sure they were kept in good condition and they were. They were in beautiful frames. I also will treasure them and put them in nice frames and pass them on to my family.

They had two there playing bagpipes dressed in kilts and about ten dressed in different Civil War uniforms and five of them had muskets and shot those in parts of the ceremony. My grandson brought our great grandson and he was so attentive to what was going on. I thought he might be scared when they shot the muskets, but he didn't blink an eye.

We did not attend the reception as we all were so cold that we sneaked out after the fourth unveiling. Also the relatives from out of town said they were not going and wanted to get back on the road to home, and we did not know any of the other families that were being unveiled.

All and all it was exciting to get to see this and I look forward to having correspondence from the other side of my great grandfather's other family. I never knew he had been married twice and I am happy to know there are others in the family line still not that far from where we live. My sister and I are the only ones left in our family. We are older than they are so hope to see them again sometime and get to know them better.

It will be interesting to hear about their lives and go over the family tree together some time.

Thanks for asking and I know your work must be so interesting and enjoyable. If you ever get to Texas and are having a program, let me know and I will try to arrange a meeting with you especially if it is near Houston where I live.

Everyone involved in this event were so nice and helpful and this Historic Trust is an all volunteer group and we appreciated all the work they put into it.
