I'll be honest, now that I have a DVD television, a Cable hookup with something like 600 or more channels, at least 40 FREE movies to select from CONSTANTLY and PAY movies galore at usually about $4.00 a pop I cannot see ANY REASON to drive to a movie theater, find a parking place, wait in line, pay outrageous prices for soda a popcorn etc etc anymore. Add to that the ability to go rent videos and I think the stand alone American Theater is about to go the way of the buggy whip. jdn

In 2004, DVD sales more than tripled box office receipts... box office sales were $9.5 billion and DVD sales were $29.5 billion in 2004, for the domestic market only...
