Chinese medicine didn't simply 'imagine'.... but I hear you about the scientific method. Still the 'search for reality' in Taoist and Buddhist traditions were NOT imagining. The West typically assumes this is true, but it's not. Of course the scientific method and western sciences advances dwarf much of old knowlege, my point is simply that not everyone on the planet was running around like scared rabbits making up myths.

BTW, even in the West we acknowlege the limitations of the 'scientific method' more and more each year. We have 'theoretical scientific' medicine for example, and 'clinical' medicine. The clinical side is why oriental medicine like acupuncture is becoming so popular even without a scientific basis. In this case, science is 'catching up' to 'experience'.
