This is the brilliance of her strategy. By being opaque she believes she can be another Souter. Perhaps she will morph into a draconian liberal, or into a pleasant conservative. I hope that the President's judgement is a good as he thinks it is. Ms. Miers has been an avid defender of his positions. That does not mean she believes that his positions are right or correct, only that she is a good and an effective council. She may make a great Justice.
