Most of the disputed monuments are not 200 years old. Many of them were put in place in the 50's. Some are older.

I'd prefer that the monuments that are in violation of the law to be rededicated at a place of worship, on private property. There they can be publicly viewed, and pose no conflict with the law. There is no justification for the display of religious monuments on public property. The law is clear on that.

It doesn't matter how long it's been going on. Women didn't have the right to vote until it was challenged. That is why the supreme court is there. So that cases may be brought and tested against the constitution.
