"Speaking at a GOP gathering, State Senator Mike Bennett (R) lashed out at Governor Jeb Bush and President George W. Bush for their apparent efforts to undermine the US Senate campaign of Congresswoman Katherine Harris by attempting to recruit potential primary opponents. "What the Republican Party is doing to Katherine Harris borders on treason ... That's not how we repay loyalty in the Republican Party," said Bennett, according to the Bradenton Herald."

Re: "...David Rosen was acquitted of two felony counts that he "knowingly and willfully caused to be made materially false, fictitious, and fraudulent statements" to the Federal Election Commission. Although the prosecution failed to prove its case that Rosen was responsible for the FEC filings, the trial did provide detailed evidence that the Clinton campaign's FEC statements were in fact false. Peter Paul's civil suit now becomes the only way to compel sworn testimony from Hillary Clinton about her role in the most massive fraud ever charged against an American political campaign."

If there is such evidence, why can't the authorities charge the Senator with violations of the campaign finance laws?

Seems pretty clear that a conviction on such charges would not only totally derail her run for the Presidency, but also knock her out of the Senate.

Just as a conviction of Senator Frist would likely end his Presidential run and knock him out of government.
