Vietnam and Iraq were both escalated based on lies and false fear tactics. The Domino Theory vs. Saddam having nukes/WMD and being in with Al Qaida. Both false reasons involving intentional lying by the presdient of the United States. Both are wars we escalated despite never being attacked. Both are in countries we don't understand and don't speak the language. Both are wars the international community largely condemns where we are seen as the bullies. Both are very unpopular back home. Both are also basically civil wars we got ourselves stuck between, with the White House telling us it's the enemy (communists and Al Qaida) we are fighting. In fact, Saddam was an enemy of Al Qaida before we invaded, and the Vietnamese were also enemies of the red CHinese before we escalated. The Vietnamese also did not like the Russians. After we left, the Vietnamese fought a war with the CHinese. See the film "Fog Of War".
