School teachers are no different than govt employees. You can't fire them and they know it...

The main push around here continues to be "more money" for education. No one wants to be "against the children" and stop giving the education system more money to waste.

You can build the schools out of gold bricks and give the teachers all Mercedes, but the kids still are not learning...

Yes, teachers who earn tenure should get it. That is common in all educational organizations. Teachers don't get paid very much so they get more job security than most. If you don't want to offer tenure, you have to pay them better. Or you won't attract good teachers from the private sector.

You realize of course that the rightwing has been going to war against our educational institutions for years now. How many times I have I heard Hannity or Coulter cry out about those liberal colleges, etc. Well then, parents have a choice. They can send their kids to Bob Jones University where the confederacy is still alive and well.
