The appointment story is little different than the blond bimbo who go herself disappeared in Aruba story. It has legs if nothing else is going on. Having read O'Conner, Stevens, Souter opinions, I have no problem believing President Bush could find Ms Miers several times as smart. But it's a crap shoot with Roberts and Miers. If you know the President at all, you know he simply has no concept of quashing or suggesting the nomination be quashed. dems hate and rage because the President stands up front for what he believes in.
