OK Mindless, I took you off permanent "ignore". Probation (if you still want to nuke Mecca then I give up).

All of that set up Bush to be elected because he was seen as a palliative to a morally outraged majority.

The "outraged majority" didn't seem to hold a BJ against Clinton (probably a personal identification thing). Not like they hold the war, the deficit, the cronifying of government, the lack of a conservation energy policy, the sell out to special interests, the outing of CIA operatives for political gain... wait, I'm on a roll here... the corruption of the Republican party, the lies to Congress and voters to pass legislation, the roll back of environmental laws, the stacking of the USSC... (OK, deep breath) against Bush.

Look at the Clinton poll numbers (link follows). Compare to Bush. Clinton had a Republican congress, he had to compromise, and together they got some great stuff done. Bush has a fiefdom, not supported by the American people... but great for the "Friends of George". Look at the numbers...

I wouldn't call Clinton's administration positive momentum.

By comparison, Clinton went to the moon and back.

In part due to his covorting with interns, he spent the last years of his Presidency defending himself instead of being our President and solving problems.

Only because there is a certain segment of this population that believe someone's sexual morality should be the subject of a grand jury. Nonetheless, the momentum was in place and good things got done inspite of Clinton's preoccupation.

That in itself created a huge schizm between Christians who wanted to see moral leadership in the White House and all others who think moral leadership is at best a personal matter that has no bearing in politics.

Yes, between us regular Christians and the evangelical variety. The schism was inevitable........and it was Bush who brought it to the surface, not Clinton IMO.

All of that set up Bush to be elected because he was seen as a palliative to a morally outraged majority.

Do you think Americans have learned their lesson?
