The congressional republicans up for election next year are going to be pounded again and again on whether they support the President's policies: The policies are increasingly unpopular and the President is becoming less capable of explaining their rationale and justification. The Miers nomination points out another Bush weakness - he believes "he knows best of all".

Sometimes even good leaders don't always know best of all what is needed or what the right answer is. Does Bush have anyone around him to challenge him or critique his plans of action? To really bounce things off of? I used to think Andy Card did this...but now I don't know.
