France is a classic example of what happens when unions become too powerful.

French mass transit is excellent. They have the TGV (Tres Grande Vitesse--very high speed) trains that are fastest outside Japan, and the Paris metro system is the most convenient in the world.

All cities and many towns are linked by frequent, convenient rail service.

A single rail line runs constantly between the two big Paris airports, from north to south, offering fast service and cheap fares (30 minutes and $15), and it connects at several points with the Metro system, passing through the center of Paris. Compare that with a 90-minute $50 taxi ride to get into Manhattan from Kennedy.

Garbage collections in France are more frequent than in the U. S. and the cities are cleaner.

The French drive small and efficient automobiles, including diesels that get better mileage than the Toyota Prius.

France now leads the world in nuclear power technology.

Ignorant France-bashing is a typical U. S. redneck occupation.
