Michael Connelly already has a new book out. Odd there wasn't any hype or fanfare, it just appeared on the shelves. He introduces a new character.

Well, no, not exactly.

There's a tremendous crunch for labor. After we get going again, we'll need folks to clean hotels, wait tables, cook, etc., all of which are vital to a city in which tourism rules. As the stock for affordable housing has almost disappeared, where are these folks going to come from? Maybe the suburbs, maybe....but I don't see suburbanites coming down to these kinds of jobs when their own parishes are doing very well.

Our idiotic city council tabled a resolution concerning the ending of the residency requirement for police. That's exactly what I'm talking about--if police have to live in the city where housing stock is reduced, their quality will be very poor. Waiters, cooks, etc., won't even bother to travel here for work as there is a limit to how much they can be paid.

I'll be alright, I think--the class actions are cranking up.

The environmental aspects of the clean up have been swept under the rug in the rush to get folks to move back in. They are bad, very bad. Expect to hear more about that soon.

We all want progress, just don't like change. :>)
